Our Background
For over 20 years, the Foundation for Peace in Divided Societies has worked to achieve peace in historically divided societies. As a US nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the Foundation celebrates South Africa’s transition to a non-racial constitutional democracy and promotes reconciliation, mutual respect, and tolerance by nurturing relationships between diverse communities.
Our Work
What We Do
The Foundation supports initiatives aligned with the mission of the FW de Klerk Foundation in South Africa, which has been an active guardian, promoter, and supporter of the South African constitution, the bill of rights, and the rule of law in the country for more than two decades. The work of the Foundation centers on the defense of human dignity, the achievement of equality, and the advancement of human rights and freedoms. The Foundation promotes reconciliation, mutual respect, and tolerance by nurturing relationships between diverse communities through communication, understanding, and engagement, as well as by promoting respect for constitutional rights and fair and inclusive participation in multiparty democratic processes.
